Description
Cover glasses D 263® M #1.5 measuring 60 × 24 mm are high-quality microscopy coverslips made from pure white borosilicate glass. The glass is absorption-free in the visible spectral range and exhibits high optical homogeneity, remaining practically free from surface defects, inclusions, streaks, bubbles and disruptive striae through an optimised manufacturing process. Highly transparent and colourless, the coverslips maintain colour neutrality under the microscope. Excellent planarity supports accurate work, while very uniform wettability assists reliable specimen preparation. Supplied in packs of 1000 pieces, these cover glasses from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences are intended for covering and fixing samples during microscopy, distributing drops on the slide, and deployment in staining or coverslipping automats. The material is borosilicate glass 3.3 and carries the DURAN® registered trademark. This is a phase-out article; the recommended replacement is 235505602.
This article is part of Microscope slides & cover glasses, in Microscopy & histology.

Questions about Cover Slips from D 263® M
What is this article?
Cover Slips from D 263® M is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope slides & cover glasses, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.
A slide is the glass a specimen sits on. A cover glass is the thin sheet over it, of a thickness the objective was designed for. A cover glass of the wrong thickness softens the image. Charged and plain slides hold sections differently.
A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
