Description
HELISTAND Set is a motor-driven electric stand that enables reliable viscosity measurement of highly viscous samples by slowly and evenly moving the mounted viscometer and its rotating body up and down within the sample. Static instruments often run empty in materials such as creams, pastes, paints or gelatine: the substance is so viscous that rotational motion pushes it outward, forming an air channel around the spindle so that the measured torque loses meaning. The controlled vertical travel of this stand prevents that channel from forming. Supplied together with the included T-spindles for non-flowing samples, the set from manufacturer IKA therefore supports meaningful viscosity data on substances that would otherwise defeat a fixed-position measurement. The complete package is intended for laboratory viscosity work where sample consistency would otherwise empty the measuring gap. Net weight is 7,190 kg; the unit is delivered as one set ready for integration with a compatible viscometer.
This article is part of Viscometers, in Density & viscosity measurement.

Questions about HELISTAND Set, Electrical stand incl. T-spindle set
What is this article?
HELISTAND Set, Electrical stand incl. T-spindle set is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.
A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.
Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
