Description
Microscope slides made of soda-lime glass with 90° ground edges in white finish are designed for routine microscopy and automated sample processing. These slides measure 26 mm by 76 mm with a thickness of 1 mm and correspond to the standard dimensions specified in ISO 8037-1, ensuring compatibility with standard laboratory instruments. Produced from high-quality soda-lime glass, they exhibit high optical homogeneity and are practically free from surface defects, inclusions, streaks and bubbles as a result of the optimised manufacturing process used by Duran/DWK Life Sciences under the DURAN® brand. The evenly ground, crystal-clear edges reduce breakage risk and help prevent glass splinters. Planarity and thickness distribution lie within very narrow tolerance ranges, so the slides are excellent for microscopy and rarely require microscope readjustment. Very uniform wettability supports reliable staining and coverslipping. Applications include examination of tissue sections and cytological preparations, both manually and in staining or coverslipping automats. Questions about Microscope Slides, from soda-lime glass
What is this article?
Microscope Slides, from soda-lime glass is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope slides & cover glasses, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.
A slide is the glass a specimen sits on. A cover glass is the thin sheet over it, of a thickness the objective was designed for. A cover glass of the wrong thickness softens the image. Charged and plain slides hold sections differently.
A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
