Description
Metallurgical microscope Quantum BM with trinocular head supports analysis of opaque and semi-transparent materials, quality control and advanced metallography. Infinity-corrected colour optics include a 30° inclined trinocular head, interpupillary distance of 54–75 mm, diopter compensation ±5 and beam splitting R:T = 50:50 for simultaneous observation and imaging. Widefield eyepieces WF10X/20 mm combine with an inverted quadruple nosepiece fitted with plan achromatic metallurgical objectives of long working distance at 5X, 10X, 20X and 50X, all fungus-protected coated. Dual illumination on the stand covers reflected light via a 5 W LED following the Köhler principle and transmitted light via a 3 W LED, both regulable. The mechanical double-layer cross stage with glass plate is 190 × 150 mm with 76 × 50 mm travel range, coaxial coarse and fine adjustment, adjustable tension, mechanical stop and fine focusing at 0,002 mm resolution. An Abbe condenser N.A. 1,25 with centred iris diaphragm, polariser and analyser rotatable through 360° round out the optical train. Available from manufacturer Labbox as 1 pc with a 2-year warranty.
This article is part of Microscope objectives, eyepieces & optics, in Microscopy & histology.

Questions about Quantum BM metallurgical microscope, trinocular head
What is this article?
Quantum BM metallurgical microscope, trinocular head is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope objectives, eyepieces & optics, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.
An objective makes the resolution. Magnification and numerical aperture are the two numbers, and the tube length or the infinity correction has to match the microscope. An eyepiece mostly enlarges the image the objective already resolved. A mismatched objective does not become sharper by zooming.
A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
