Description
Transmitted light microscope KERN OBN 132 unites professional performance and versatility with Köhler illumination for demanding laboratory applications. The OBN series is characterised by consistently high quality and ergonomic design, while its modular components give professional users a high degree of individuality. Transmitted-light illumination is provided by a 20 W halogen lamp (Philips). The instrument features professional Köhler illumination with an adjustable field diaphragm and a centrable, height-adjustable 1,25 Abbe condenser with regulable aperture diaphragm. A very large mechanical stage with ergonomic bilateral coaxial coarse and fine drives supports rapid, precise positioning and focusing of the specimen. Modular options available as accessories include a swing-out condenser, various eyepieces and objectives, colour filters, phase-contrast units, a darkfield condenser, a simple polarisation unit, a butterfly tube and complete fluorescence units from manufacturer Kern. A dust cover, eyecups and a multilingual operating manual are supplied; a C-mount adapter is required for camera connection. Application areas include haematology, urology, gynaecology, dermatology, pathology, microbiology and parasitology, immunology, sewage treatment, oncology, entomology, veterinary medicine, water analysis and breweries. The system is intended for translucent, thin, low-contrast and demanding preparations such as living mammalian cells, bacteria and tissue.

Questions about Transmitted Light Microscope KERN OBN, 132
What is this article?
Transmitted Light Microscope KERN OBN, 132 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Light & fluorescence microscopes, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.
A light microscope looks through a thin specimen. A fluorescence microscope adds a light source and filters matched to a dye, so only the labelled structure shows. The filter set has to match the dye's excitation and emission. A bright-field microscope without those filters cannot do that experiment.
A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
