Description

Pressure relief/check valve with NS 29/32 and standard stopcock with 3 mm bore is a dual-purpose laboratory fitting that combines adjustable overpressure relief with vacuum-compatible check-valve action. Relief is provided by a spring-loaded ball joint whose seal is maintained by a higher-viscosity sealing liquid. The spring pressure can be adjusted by the user or preset and sealed at the factory on request. Maximum overpressure rating is 0,1 bar. As a check valve the device functions under vacuum; an immersed riser tube prevents the sealing liquid from entering and contaminating the process. For particularly aggressive media the spring can be covered with an inert liquid to enhance chemical compatibility. Delivered as one piece from manufacturer LAT, the valve mates via the NS 29/32 ground joint and incorporates a standard stopcock with 3 mm bore. It is designed for larger-scale distillation, reaction and vacuum apparatus requiring reliable pressure protection together with reverse-flow prevention and process purity.

This article is part of Stopcocks & valves, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about Non-Return Valves

What is this article?

Non-Return Valves is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes LAT for laboratory use. It sits in Stopcocks & valves, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Matériel de laboratoire.

A stopcock opens and closes a line, or directs it between ports. Glass stopcocks have a ground plug that needs grease or a PTFE key. The bore decides the flow. A two-way and a three-way key are different parts.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
