Cleanroom gloves are controlled for particles and extractables. Sterile gloves are individually packaged and sterilised, for aseptic work. A box of ordinary disposable gloves is neither. The sterile lot and the cleanroom class claimed on the bag are the specification.

A glove is a barrier on the hand, and the barrier is only as good as the hazard it was tested against. Nitrile, latex and vinyl disposable gloves are for splash and for incidental contact. A chemical-resistant glove is a different article, tested for permeation by named chemicals. A cut-resistant glove is for blades and edges. Cold and heat need yet another material.
