Description
Precision balance PR4201 is a full-range single-range laboratory balance intended for routine weighing work at the bench. It delivers a maximum capacity of 4,2 kg with a readability of 0,0001 kg and a repeatability of 0,1 g. The removable stainless-steel weighing platform has a diameter of 180 mm and is shielded by a removable glass draft shield with sliding top cover. Construction includes an ABS upper housing, built-in underfloor weighing hook, security loop and adjustment lock, offered by manufacturer Ohaus. Supported applications are simple weighing, piece counting and percent weighing. A backlit LCD display ensures easy reading of results, while the standard RS232 interface enables connectivity. Further equipment comprises selectable environmental filters and brightness settings, automatic taring, automatic dimming, user-definable span adjustment points, software lockout and reset menu, customisable communication and data-print options, project and user IDs, plus overload/underload and stability indicators. Minimum sample weight (USP, 0,1 %, typical) is 200 g. The balance measures 201 mm in width, 317 mm in depth and 93 mm in height, with a net weight of 3,5 kg.

Questions about Precision Balance PR4201
What is this article?
Precision Balance PR4201 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Ohaus for laboratory use. It sits in Precision balances, inside Balances & scales, in Lab instruments.
A precision balance reads more coarsely than an analytical balance, often 1 mg or 10 mg, and it takes a heavier pan load. It is the balance for preparing bulk reagents. Draft, level and a warm-up still move the last digit.
A balance compares a mass with a standard. An analytical balance reads to 0.1 mg or finer and needs a draft shield and a stable bench. A precision balance is coarser and faster. A platform scale takes a heavier load. The reading is only as good as the calibration chain back to the kilogram, which is why test weights and a certificate exist. A moisture analyser is a balance with a heater: it records the loss of mass as water leaves. The unit of mass is kept by the BIPM, compared across Europe by EURAMET, and accredited by BELAC. NIST publishes the same measurement foundations.
