Description

Rotor FA-6x50 is an aerosol-tight high-speed fixed-angle rotor supplied complete with rotor lid for centrifugation of 6 × 50 mL conical tubes. It is intended for Centrifuge 5910 R, Centrifuge 5910 Ri and Centrifuge 5920 R and covers applications with vessels from 5 to 50 mL. Maximum performance is 20 130 × g at 12 100 rpm. The Eppendorf QuickLock® rotor lid supports fast, convenient locking, while aerosol tightness—tested by Public Health England, Porton Down (United Kingdom)—aids safe processing of hazardous samples. A low rotor weight of 3,450 kg improves handling at the bench, and anodized aluminium construction offers high chemical resistance. The 45° bore angle helps minimise pellet smearing during runs. Rotor, lid and adapters are autoclavable, supporting standard laboratory sterilisation routines. This FA-6x50 rotor from manufacturer Eppendorf combines secure containment, chemical durability and practical ergonomics for demanding sample-preparation workflows in research and routine laboratories.

This article is part of Rotors, in Centrifuges.

Questions about Rotor FA-6x50

What is this article?

Rotor FA-6x50 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Eppendorf for laboratory use. It sits in Rotors, inside Centrifuges, in Lab instruments.

A centrifuge rotor is the rotating part that holds the tubes, and it is rated for a maximum speed and a maximum load. A swing-out rotor and a fixed-angle rotor pellet differently. A rotor from another centrifuge does not belong on this drive, even when it seems to fit.

A centrifuge separates by density. The rotor spins the sample and the force is reported as a multiple of gravity, not as a raw speed, because the same revolutions per minute are a different force at a different radius. A microcentrifuge takes small tubes. A benchtop or floor model takes larger rotors. The tube, the adapter and the rotor have to be the combination the manufacturer rated. An unbalanced load is how centrifuges fail. Measurement of the related quantities sits with the BIPM.
