Description

Three-necked round-bottom flask, DURAN®, is a larger multi-port glass vessel intended for preparative reactions and distillations that need several ground-joint accessories at once. With a nominal capacity of 2000 ml, the flask combines a centre neck NS 29/32 with two narrower side necks NS 14/23, allowing a main condenser or stirrer guide on the centre joint while thermometers, gas lines or smaller dropping funnels occupy the side ports. The round-bottom geometry promotes even heat distribution and thorough mixing under standard laboratory heating arrangements. Produced in DURAN® glass from manufacturer Lenz, this flask fits the common range of round flasks with ground glass joints used in organic synthesis, scale-up work and teaching laboratories. It is supplied as a single piece weighing 0,580 kg and couples directly to matching NS glassware. The mixed joint sizes give flexibility when smaller side accessories must be combined with a full-size centre connection without changing the entire setup mid-experiment.

Questions about Three-necked round-bottom flask, DURAN®, 2000 ml, side necks 14/23, centre 29/32

What is this article?

Three-necked round-bottom flask, DURAN®, 2000 ml, side necks 14/23, centre 29/32 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Lenz for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
