Description

RET basic is a magnetic stirrer with heating that combines integrated temperature control and precise digital setting of temperature and speed, even when the function is switched off. It includes a PT 1000 temperature sensor (PT 1000.60) and displays the set safety temperature limit on the digital readout. A Hot Top indicator warns of a hot surface to help prevent burns, while an adjustable safety circuit for the hotplate temperature (50–380 °C) supports unattended operation. The closed design (IP 42) and improved heating control technology provide short heat-up times and hotplate temperatures from room temperature to 340 °C. Electronic speed control covers 0/50–1700 min⁻¹ with strong magnetic coupling. A DIN 12878 socket allows connection of an electronic contact thermometer such as ETS-D5 for high-precision temperature control; the tempering function can switch off automatically if the external sensor is not immersed. This IKAMAG® unit from manufacturer IKA suits routine heating and stirring in chemical and life-science laboratories.

Questions about RET basic, Magnetic stirrer with heating

What is this article?

RET basic, Magnetic stirrer with heating is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Magnetic stirrers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A magnetic stirrer is the motor and the plate under the flask. Many also heat. The stirring capacity is the litres of a water-like liquid it can turn, and a viscous liquid defeats a rating that was measured on water.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
